Dart Rings - What They Are and How They're Made

If you play darts then dart rings are made for you - it’s that simple. They are intended for dart players of all skill levels to proudly display their darts around their neck which frees up your hands and helps prevent theft since you’re not setting your darts down and forgetting about them anymore!

We have a special connection to the darts community and originally launched our company with our collection of handcrafted dart rings to offer players a unique and stylish darts case option. With that said, let’s dive into our Dart Rings Frequently Asked Questions.

TOP 8 DART RING QUESTIONS | FAQ’S

Not sure exactly what Dart Rings are? In this video, Jen covers the Top 8 most common questions we've received about them. Below we include a few more questions and elaborate on each.

WHAT ARE DART RINGS?

Dart Rings are handcrafted borosilicate glass necklace pendants that keep your 3 darts in place while you’re shooting. They’re an incredibly convenient way to keep your darts on your person by simply slipping them into the ring (in-between matches or in-between throws).

Not only do they serve as a functional darts case, they also act as a cool display of art (like a glass necklace pendant). We offer many different artistic styles and colors to choose from. Hopefully you’re able to color coordinate to match one of our dart rings with the colors of your darts setup!

WHAT ARE DART RINGS MADE OUT OF?

Dart Rings are made out of borosilicate glass which is significantly harder, stronger and more durable than soda-lime glass, for example.

DO THEY HELP PREVENT THEFT?

We hope so! One of the biggest inspirations for creating this product stemmed from seeing rampant theft happen in bars and at events. During league play or tournaments, it’s very common for players to set down their darts and forget about them. Or someone might walk by and swipe them from you. Never forget your darts on the table again by keeping them on your person with our dart rings!

WILL MY DARTS FIT INTO THE RING?

Yes, absolutely. Dart Rings are designed to support virtually every barrel size, weight and flight shape (even slim and paper flights). It’s rare that your barrels would be so big in diameter that you cannot slip all three darts at once into the ring, but if that is the case you’d simply slip one dart at a time.

WILL MY DARTS FALL OUT WHEN I BEND OVER?

Nope, the Dart Ring will move with the weight of your darts. Gravity is your friend here - your barrels will stay vertical as you bend.

ARE THEY SAFE TO USE WITH STEEL TIP DARTS?

Yes, Dart Rings work with either soft or steel tip darts. If you don’t want the steel tip points touching you in a certain area, the string necklace can be re-knotted so your darts lay in an optimal position to not prick your body. You can also swap out the string necklace entirely for your favorite necklace chain or lanyard.

WILL THEY BREAK EASILY?

Our Dart Rings are made out of borosilicate glass which is very durable and can withstand mild impact. Our best advice is to handle them with care and avoid dropping them on hard surfaces such as tile or cement.

DO THEY HELP WITH THE DURABILITY OF FLIGHTS & SHAFTS?

Yes, we believe Dart Rings make an excellent retention system for your darts setup. We’ve seen countless players shove their darts in their pocket or jam them into their purse which puts unnecessary wear and tear on the flights. Any extra stress makes your flights much more susceptible to tearing/ripping and warping.

IS EVERY PIECE UNIQUE?

They sure are! Dart Rings are handmade, unique and made in America. All of our glass materials are sourced within the United States. Color and precise design of the actual product may vary from the photograph seen on the website.

WHAT IF MY FLIGHTS POP OFF?

Your three flights resting together prevent any single dart from slipping through the ring. Whether you’re using modern molded flights or even paper flights - the effects of gravity and your movements walking around should not separate the flights from your shafts/stems.

The reality is, if your flights easily pop off (without a little force) - this is a glaring issue in itself. There are many tools and flight system upgrades out there to enhance your personal setup and correct this issue.

DART RING TYPES & FILTERS EXPLAINED

In case you have a certain style of dart ring that you prefer, we set up filters to sort the various options. In this video, Jen covers the different filter options and shows some closeup examples of each type.

OPAQUE

Opaque glass is non transparent - meaning you are not able to see through it and light does not shine through it. Therefore, this filter will display all dart rings where the majority of their mass is not see through.

Periwinkle Glass Dart Ring

TRANSLUECENT

Translucent glass means the object is not completely clear, but does let some light pass through. Translucent dart rings might be made up of several colors or have a cloudy appearance. Colorless clear glass would be considered transparent.

SPARKLE

This filter will display all dart rings that literally have a sparkle to them. The sparkly twinkle is especially noticeable when twirled around under direct light.

IMPLOSION (COMING SOON)

The implosion technique is where color or fumed glass is actually imploded into clear glass thus fully encasing it. We use this technique to create the shape of a mushroom, for example. *Mushroom Dart Rings coming soon.

MILLEFIORI

Originally an Italian word that means 1,000 flowers, Millefiori in glass blowing means an ornamental glass produced by cutting cross sections of an image made completely of glass. Millefiori Dart Rings are made by encasing a Mille into a clear piece of glass for best viewing ability.

Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon Glass Dart Ring

SCULPTURE

This filter displays only our hand sculpted dart rings like our dragons and sea turtles. Extra time, creativity and care go into developing these products as they are inspired by nature and mythology. First the ring itself is formed, then the rest of the full sculpture pieces (like eyes, horns or limbs) are shaped over a flame.
